There are times in life when we might feel totally hopeless, helpless, overwhelmed with emotional pain. It can see like there is not way out of your problems, we’ve run out of ideas. possible solutions. Our problems seem unfix-able. The pain feels like it will never end. We believe we’ve run out of options. and suicide in the only answer left.
One of the worst things about being young is the way passing things seem somehow permanent. So when an unnamed 16-year-old in China faced yet another example of fate raining all over his incredibly poor family, he decided to step out rather than suffer a life of torment and misery. Climbing over the railing of a pedestrian bridge, he prepared to jump. At which point a passing waitress named Liu Wenxiu decided to get involved.
Despite having never seen the kid before, despite knowing nothing of his problems, she followed him to the railing and did the only thing she could: She listened. She listened as this random 16-year-old described the pit his life had fallen into, she listened as he listed the endless problems tearing his family life to bits, and then she simply showed him her wrists. As they stood there, surrounded by cops and gawping pedestrians, Liu told him the story behind her own attempted suicide—quietly, firmly, and without any contrivances. When she was done, she leaned forward, hugged the boy, and gave him a kiss. And the boy suddenly decided that maybe life was worth living after all. All Liu had done was something no one else had ever thought to do: She’d given the kid her full attention and really listened. And that little slice of kindness was all it took to save his life.
There are so many things worth living for. Be it a kiss from a stranger or a long drive with best friends. There are experiences that you need to have. Killing yourself isn’t the answer to everything that is going on in your life.
– That one special person.
– All the memories, laughs and the hugs.
– Sunrise. Sunset.
– Dancing in the rain.
– Hearing children laugh.
– Your own family.
If you kill yourself, you’ll just become another statistic. Choose to live and make a difference in this world.
If you kill yourself, you will hurt so many people. Imagine how much guilt, grief and anguish you will cause your loved ones.
Life is beautiful, make the most of it.
You’re an amazing person. You’ve lived this long. That gives others hope. Remember, every second is precious. Make the most of it.
I’m begging you not to. It would break my heart. No one deserves to die. No one.
What if you end up being the one that finds the cure for cancer? Or the one that discovers life on Mars? Or the one that ends up with the most amazing spouse and family? How will you ever know your true potential if you’re not there to experience it. All the people you will never meet, all the lives you won’t touch, all the souls you won’t inspire. The future is a mystery; don’t you want to discover its secrets?
Death won’t relieve the pain. It will get better, I promise.
Just hold on for another day. Every day is a new opportunity. Stop focusing on the negatives, instead, look for the positive things in life. Do you have amazing friends? Are you good at an instrument? Remember, you’re here because a lady cared enough to bring you into this world. So embrace that, with both hands.
